Clifton Green school regularly hosts Recycle York as we have developed a positive working relationship together over the years. We have visited them and run some of our educational workshops and attend their annual summer fair that is hosted in their school grounds. As you probably know by now, our agenda it always two-sided We want to help recycle the bikes (and their parts) we recover from household recycling centres AND educate our community on how to better look after their noble steed and the Clifton Green School Summer Fair was the perfect place to do just this!
It was really cool to see the kids getting stuck in with a bit of bushcraft too! There was a space dedicated to help kids get hands on and learning some really cool skills that will definitely be of use out in the wild! It was a great day down at the clifton green school summer fair, we always have a fantastic experience there and we just love helping them out!
Our team managed to get the stand up and get their hands dirty. It was surprising how many bikes we actually ended up fixing! We were kept very busy by everyone but we were more than happy to help and would always recommend popping along to us, either at an event, or in our shop in Walmgate.
We had a few kids bikes serviced and ready for sale in there too alongside our massive selection of recovered bike parts. It is always a pleasure to see so many kids smiling, laughing and having fun while raising money for a good cause!
We all know times are getting hard these days so all we can do to club together and pitch in to help the next generation get properly educated! We had a great time listening to all the tunes and live music on the day. We saw performances from some of the kids and adults too!
There was even some welly wanging, which the kids had a great time taking part in. Clifton Green School did take to social media a few days after the fair and post the results of the competition.
We are always on the look out for events to attend, purely to drive awareness about who we are, what we do and how we can help our community maintain a close relationship with sustainable and affordable travel.
